This week we updated the roadmap (Feature Timeline) for Visual Studio Team Services and Team Foundation Server. Check it out to see many of the significant improvements we are working on/planning. If you have feedback or suggestions for other improvements that are important to you, our User Voice forum is the best place to provide it.
When we first envisioned the feature timeline idea, the thinking was to update it quarterly. However, over time, it turned out that didn’t work well with our planning rhythm – that involves cross team backlog reviews every 3 sprints – or every 9 weeks. It made sense to do roadmap updates when each planning wave was completed and the result is that the updates became unaligned with the quarterly roadmap schedule. So, here we are 2/3rds of the way through Q1 and we have a roadmap update that still talks about Q1 deliverables. I thought that might seem a bit weird to you so I wanted to explain why.
We sh9uld be doing another update to the feature timeline in several weeks to identify which of the “future” items will show up in TFS 2018.2 – we generally do that as soon as the first RC for an Update ships and that’s the rough timeframe.
Thank you,
Brian
